Description

What is Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray?

This Sudafed Nose Spray is a treatment that works to relieve congestion in the nose. Nasal congestion is relieved thanks to this spray and the active ingredient, which is xylometazoline. Xylometazoline is a decongestant that reduces swelling in the nose and sinuses.

What causes nasal congestion?

Nasal congestion is generally caused by an infection such as a cold, or an allergy such as hay fever. The condition happens as a result of the blood vessels in the nose swelling because of the infection. Any infection is also likely to cause excess mucus to form at the back of the nose.

Who is this Sudafed nasal spray suitable for?

This nasal spray is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the spray should not use it. It should also not be used by anyone any of the following applies:

  • Taking antidepressant known as a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI)
  • If you have recently had neurosurgery
  • Had the pituitary gland removed

Uses / Instructions

Children under 12 years

DO NOT  give to children under 12 years old.

Adults and Children aged 12 years and over

Adults and children aged 12 years and over:

  • One spray into each nostril 2 to 3 times a day
  • Do not take more than 3 doses in 24 hours.
  • Do not use continuously for more than 7 days.
  • If symptoms persist or worsen, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings

This medicine is suitable for most people but a few people should not use it. If you are in any doubt, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not use this medicine…

  • If you have ever had a bad reaction (e.g. rash, swelling of the face and throat, difficulty breathing) to any of the ingredients.
  • If you are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).
  • If you have recently had neurosurgery.
  • If you have had your pituitary gland removed.
  • For a child under 12 years old.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray can have side-effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • Occasionally people may experience local irritation such as burning, soreness, dryness, stinging, itching or sneezing.
  • Nausea and headache may rarely occur.
  • If this medicine is used continuously for long periods, congestion symptoms may return.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray is: Xylometazoline hydrochloride
0.1% w/v.
Other ingredients are: Benzalkonium chloride, disodium edetate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, sorbitol solution, purified water.
