What is Infacol Colic Relief Drops?

Infacol Colic Relief Drops has been specially formulated to relieve wind, infant colic and gripe pain.

The Infacol Colic Relief Drops can come in a natural orange flavour, which is sugar, alcohol and colourant free, so you can give it to your baby without worrying about ingredients. They can be used from birth onwards, and have an easy to use the dropper to make giving it to the baby even easier.

What is Colic?

Colic is when a baby cries a lot but without any clear cause.

Of course, all babies cry and they can cry a lot. Colic is something different. If your baby has colic, they may cry for more than 3 hours a day, several days a week.

Unfortunately, there is no clear cause for colic. Some people believe that it is caused by problems digesting food or trapped wind, which can be very uncomfortable for a baby.

This is a common condition with newborns and normally stops after they’re 6 months old.

What is Infacol Drops Used for?

Infacol is used to relieve abdominal pain such as gripe, colic or wind. An anti-flatulent remedy, it is specially formulated to bring out trapped gas bubbles in your baby’s stomach.

Uses / Instructions

Dosage:

One dropper full (0.5ml) given before each feed.
If necessary, after 3 or 4 days this may be increased to two droppers full (1ml).

To use:

Shake bottle.
Draw up one dropper full by squeezing the rubber bulb twice.
Wipe any excess into the bottle.
To administer squeeze the bulb and release INFACOL onto the back of the baby’s tongue.

Warnings

Do not give Infacol if you think your baby might be allergic (hypersensitive) to simeticone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Do not give Infacol and get advice from a doctor if your baby is being treated for a thyroid disorder.
If your baby is being treated with levothyroxine for a thyroid disorder using Infacol might reduce the amount of this type of medicine that is absorbed and weaken the effect of their treatment.
Infacol contains methyl hydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl hydroxybenzoate (E216). These may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

Side Effects

Simeticone, the active ingredient in Infacol, is not absorbed into the baby’s body and is very unlikely to harm your baby. It is very unusual for Infacol to cause any side-effects.
