Description
Nicotinell Mint Lozenge belongs to a group of medicines which are used to help you stop smoking. Nicotinell Mint Lozenge contains the active substance nicotine. When sucked, nicotine is released slowly and absorbed through the lining of the mouth.
This medicinal product is used to help people stop smoking. The nicotine in Nicotinell Mint relieves nicotine withdrawal symptoms and cravings when you stop smoking or temporarily reduce smoking in order to facilitate smoking cessation. By relieving the withdrawal symptoms and cravings Nicotinell Mint counteracts a smoking relapse in smokers who are motivated to stop smoking. Patient counselling and support normally improve the success rate. Nicotinell Mint Lozenge is indicated for smokers aged 18 years and above.
Uses / Instructions
How to use this product
Always take Nicotinell Mint Lozenges exactly as described in the product leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. You may use Nicotinell Mint Lozenges alone or in combination with Nicotinell Patches. It is recommended that you use Nicotinell for smoking cessation (quitting) but you can also use it for smoking reduction before quitting for good.
Dosage
Suck one lozenge when you feel a craving for a cigarette. In principle, one lozenge should be taken every 1-2 hours. 8-12 lozenges are usually sufficient. If you still feel the urge to smoke after 8-12 lozenges, you can suck additional lozenges to ease cravings, but do NOT exceed 24 lozenges per day and do NOT use more than 1 lozenge per hour.
Warnings
Warnings and precautions for use. Do not use if you: Are a non-smoker or occasional smoker. Are allergic to any of the ingredients. Consult your doctor, nurse or pharmacist before starting to use these lozenges if you: Are under 18 years of age. Have any serious heart disease. Are pregnant or breast-feeding. Are under a doctor’s care or taking prescribed medication. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children. Do not exceed the stated dose. Side Effects
Like all medicines, Nicotinell can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. Some of the effects you may notice in the first few days are dizziness, headaches and disturbed sleep. These may be withdrawal symptoms caused by smoking cessaction. Stop taking Nicotinell immediately and seek medical advice if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Swelling of the face, tongue or throat
- Difficulty swallowing
- Hives
- Breathing difficulties
