Description

Neocate Spoon: From 6 months

Neocate Spoon is a unique hypoallergenic amino acid spoonable product designed to supplement the nutritional intake of infants with Cow’s Milk Allergy (CMA), Multiple Food Protein Allergies (MFPA) or those who require an amino acid formula from 6 months onwards.

Neocate Spoon can be used

  • During weaning to introduce new texture and variety to the diet
  • For increasing food variety, when introducing new foods, for example mixed with fruit or a compote, or mashed vegetable
  • For different meal times and snacks e.g. dessert, you can flavour it (e.g. fruit jelly, for puree preparation or as a yoghurt alternative)

Neocate Spoon – When to use it

Weaning can be an anxious and challenging time for parents of infants with CMA and MFPA but it is important to try and introduce new tastes and textures and increase the level of nutrient intake, critical for growth. Neocate Spoon offers a worry free and nutritious way for parents to introduce these new tastes and textures whilst increasing their nutritional intake.

Neocate Spoon is also useful beyond the weaning period and throughout early childhood until tolerance is established. It can be used on its own or to boost the nutritional content of foods in the diet.

Neocate Spoon encourages nutritional intake in older infants who are struggling with the transition onto follow-up hypoallergenic formula.

It provides a good source of calcium and can be considered as a helpful palatable alternative to dairy foods.

There is no upper age limit for its use.

The use should be determined based on the individual requirements of the child.

Uses / Instructions

  • The suggested serving size is 1 sachet (37g) of powder plus 60ml of water, to give a spoonable consistency (approximately 97g).
  • For infants starting on solids, the consistency of Neocate Spoon can be altered by adding more or less water as required.
  • A smaller serving size can be prepared by adding 30ml of water to half a sachet of powder.
  • It is recommended that cooled, boiled water be used when preparing the product for infants.

Instrutions for preparation:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly and clean the preparation area
  2. Add the prescribed amount of Neocate Spoon into a clean bowl.
  3. Gradually add the required amount of cooled, boiled water whilst stirring with a clean feeding spoon.
  4. Mix until thickened (this may take several minutes).

Warnings

  • Must be used under medical supervision.
  • The product should be prepared immediately prior to feeding and any remaining should be discarded if not used within 1 hour.
  • Neocate Spoon can be added to cooked dishes.
  • Ensure the food feels warm to the wrist before adding Neocate Spoon.
  • Do not add to very hot foods.
  • Do not warm prepared product.
  • Infants should receive Neocate Spoon as well as breastmilk or a hypoallergenic infant formula.
  • The total daily intake of Neocate Spoon should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only, and is dependent on age, bodyweight, and medical condition of the patient.
  • Not intended for bottle or tube feeding.
  • Not intended as a sole source of nutrition
  • Store unopened sachets in a cool, dry place.
    Opened sachets should be kept in airtight container and used within 24 hours
