What is Canesten Solution
Canesten Solution contains the an antifungal Clotrimazole, a fast-acting, effective anti-fungal treatment used to fight infections of the skin and ear, helping to ease itching and soothe your skin. It is indicated for use in the treatment of a number of fungal skin infections as follows:
- Ringworm.
- Athletes Foot.
- Fungal intertrigo: fungal infection of the skinfolds.
Canesten Solution can also be used to treat fungal infections of the outer (otitis externa) or middle ear (otomycoses). Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called imidazoles and is an antifungal agent which fights the cause of fungal skin and ear infections. The solution is designed to be used to treat all fungal skin infections due to dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds and other fungi.
The solution is particularly suitable for use on hairy skin and comes in an easy-to-use dropper bottle.
Each 20 ml bottle comes with a convenient dropper, making applications to your skin and ears easy and precise, minimising mess and spills.
Uses / Instructions
How to use Canesten Solution for Athletes Foot:
- Wash and dry your feet thoroughly, especially between the toes, before applying the solution.
How to use Canesten Solution for skin infections:
- Apply thinly and evenly to the affected areas two or three times daily.
How to use Canesten Solution for ear infections:
- Put 2-3 drops of Canesten Solution in the ear two or three times daily.
How long should I use Canesten Solution?
- The treatment should be continued for at least two weeks after the disappearance of all the signs of infection in order to prevent reinfection.
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Canesten Solution can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. As with all medicines, some people may be allergic to the solution. If you are allergic, a reaction will occur soon after you start using it. If you experience an allergic reaction, stop using Canesten Solution and tell your doctor straight away or contact the Accident and Emergency Department of your nearest hospital.
Signs of an allergic reaction may include:
• Rash.
• Swallowing or breathing problems.
• Swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue.
• Weakness, feeling dizzy or faint.
• Nausea.
After you apply the solution you might experience:
• Itching, rash, blisters, burning, discomfort, swelling, irritation, redness or peeling of skin.
Ingredients
Active ingredient Clotrimazole 1%. Other ingredients: Macrogol 400.
