Canesten Thrush Cream Clotrimazole 2% provides external treatment for thrush and other fungal infections. It contains 2% of the active ingredient Clotrimazole which promotes a healthy pH balance and reduces thrush symptoms of itching and burning.

Who is this Canesten cream suitable?

It is suitable for anyone aged between 16-60 who is suffering from the effects of external thrush. It should not be used if you are allergic to clotrimazole, or any of the other ingredients contained in the cream. If you have an STI or illness, then speak to a doctor before using.

How does Canesten Thrush Cream Clotrimazole 2% Work?

This thrush cream uses a substance called Clotrimazole, which is a powerful antifungal agent. It is a popular active ingredient in other antifungal medicine for other infections such as athletes’ foot, jock itch and ringworm. Clotrimazole alters the fungi’s cell walls, killing it.

Can men get thrush?

Even though thrush is usually thought of a condition that only women are affected, men can get it. However, men can only get it from a woman who is affected when having sex. Despite this, thrush is not classified as an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection).

How to Prevent Thrush with Canesten Thrush Cream?

Canesten Thrush Cream Clotrimazole 2% can be used to prevent the growth of fungus and reduce itchy, burning sensations. To prevent thrush from recurring:

Avoid tight, synthetic clothing
Avoid perfumed soaps, gels, bubble baths, vaginal deodorants and douches
Change tampons or pads regularly when on your period

Uses / Instructions

Wash your hands before and after using the cream.

Apply the cream thinly to affected areas 2 or 3 times a day and rub in gently.

Treatment should be continued for up to one week after treating the internal infection in women and for two weeks in men.

If symptoms persist consult your doctor.

Warnings

If you are pregnant or trying for a baby, tell your doctor or midwife before using Canesten Thrush External Cream. Medicines can affect the unborn baby.

Side Effects

As with all medicines, some people may be allergic to the cream. If you are allergic, a reaction will occur soon after you have used the medicine. If you experience an allergic reaction or the redness, burning, pain, itching or swelling get worse, stop using this product and tell your doctor straight away or contact the Accident and Emergency Department of your nearest hospital.

Signs of an allergic reaction may include:
